What is Wood Chips?
Wood chips are small pieces of wood, usually less than 3 cm in size, produced during wood processing. They are widely used in many industries, especially the production of paper, biomass pellets and agricultural bio-beds.
Wood Chip Production Process
The wood chip production process includes the following main steps:
- Raw material selection : Select raw logs, forest trees or firewood branches to produce wood chips.
- Sawing wood : The log is cut into pieces of sufficient size to be fed into the wood chipper.
- Wood chipping : Wood pieces are fed into the chipper to be crushed into wood chips.
- Wood chip screening : After milling, the wood chips are screened to separate scraps, branches and impurities from the finished product.
- Drying : Wood chips are dried to reduce moisture content and increase product durability.
- Packing : Wood chips are packed into suitable packaging for transportation to paper mills or wood chip customers.
